That can't be right...
From what I understand, you are are only allowed to errect things in your back-garden providing they do not take up as much as 50% of the area behind your house or more. That counts, for sheds, log cabins, anything.
Then again, perhaps this is counted seperately as more of an "extention"...?

Our neighbour has a conservatory stuffed into a small garden. Honestly, I can't see the point; if you don't have the space, don't install an extension. It takes up 3 quarters of their garden.
