What client should I get? Preferably one without any spyware that's going to f**k my laptop to kingdom come...

Same here.
It's probably the best BitTorrent client I've used.
It's not that demanding. I do prefer BitTornado though.

Yeah, it's complete tosh. I go to get a list of someone's files, and it just stays at 0% and all this crap with active and passive users. And there's quite a few fake files. BitTorrent/Suprnova combination is far more superior.
it relys on people knowing your ip address in order to send you data, if you have a firewall or a router, or even an isp that broadcasts a fake ip address isnted of your real; one then your downstreem will be very slow
however you will be comunicating with many users who dont have any security which means your upsteam will be very fast so although you get nothing you still waste all your bandwith
for example i have a network router, i had to setup port forwarding first for bit-torrent, then there was the ip problem
i had between 0-2 bits/second down stream (yes bits not kb) and 50-100k kb upstream.
some sites let you enter your real ip address but most including super nova dont
i recomend you get a program called dc++, to join servers most require a minimum share size but with 5gb worth of files to share you can get as much as you could get on kazza, more shared files makes it even better (as long as you join the servers)
also you can only share usefull data (having 100 copies of an mp3 file for example will never work, and shareing your C:/windows directory is also a no no) so you can garrantee that all files you get will be usefull
it can be used to download anything, music, movies, games, images, programs you name it

> Suprnova.org has gone all serious and started charging... gits.
Er, since when?
You've most likely fallen upon these idiots that have purchased domains like "supernova.org" and "suprnova.com" which are just trying to scam money out of people in exhcange for torrents.
Suprnova is free and always has been.
