I go away for a few days and come back to find my settings for XP have been changed so that it won't boot up into the XP desktop. :S

How do I:

make a new settings file without being in XP?

or

reset my computer/settings to their defaults so I can get into XP?

If I use a boot disk made off someone elses PC with XP will that sort it?

How do I make a boot disk myself outside of XP?

Tried safe Mode?

Press F8 or similar while booting up, change whatever settings back there.

When booting up, look at the screen. It should say F?: Safe Mode

my BIOS is older it just says 'press delete to enter setup'

Hmmmm

Enter setup to see if it says there. Failing that, try all the F keys. Trial and error and all that. My PC' is F8

Pretty sure it is f8, looked it up.

My BIOS doesn't give me the option though. :S

Might have to get a new BIOS.

Delete for BIOS.

F8 for safe mode.
