It stars Ben "Mr J Lo" Affleck and Uma Thurman. Directed by John Woo.
Plot is basically a guy has no memory of the past 3 years. Bad stuff happens. He needs to find out what happened.
The plot itself is quite good, as I would have expected from a Phillip K Dick novel (he wrote it you see). Takes a while for the action to begin though, but it isn't boring.
Affleck isn't a bad actor, he's just not brilliant. He turns in a good enough performance as what is in some ways a Bond like character, though he doesn't have the charisma of them. He's better in Paycheck than in Daredevil anyway. He just doesn't strike me as being nerdy enough to play a hotshot electronics engineer. Don't moan, you find that out really quickly.
Someone a bit more awkward would possibly have been better for the role, which reminded me a bit of Jeremy Northam's in Cypher (best movie of 2003). Still, he does an OK job.
Uma Thurman is too pointy. Her nose, her chin, she looks like an actual bird. Which is a same as from the back she looks nice enough. She does quite well actually.
John Woo is the director. Him of Face/Off and Mission Impossible 2. Nice backgrounds, nice and hi-tech research sort of stuff. However there are some action sequences and the close up fighting remains focussed on the cast meaning the camera moves a lot til I felt a bit sick. That may have been partly to do with a slightly ropey lunch though.
There is also a nice wee chase sequence which Woo handles in a rather nice, albeit over the top manner. He's good at them you see.
All round a good plot and a decent movie but not stunning. Worth seeing though. 6/7 out of 10.
P.S. There was a scene with lots of flashing lights that might well induce fits or something. Just warning you.

Ah ha ha. No. I know he has a long and illustrious career MAKING GUN MOVIES FOR CHINESE TEENAGERS. The Chinese equivalent of whoever was responsible for turds like "Triple X". I've seen Hard Boiled (the film every fan that has been "Wooed" uses as their weapon against non-Woo fans) and it was crap. Guns and explosions, and no Chuck Norris in sight. I was looking for the masterful direction and pace that I thought would make up for the lack of plot, style, substance, but alas I was left with a bad taste in my eyes. The fact that every movie he's ever made since has been even worse makes me not want to watch them. Not a fan I'm afraid.

Not at all. But they are his better known movies. Most people wouldn't be able to name any of his Hong Kong movies. Hell, I couldn't name any because they are all seemingly unpronouncable!

I had reservations, it was the company I was with wanted to see it. I was pleasantly surprised.

That was great! In a bad movie kind of way. Plus I was ill at the time I saw it and so was under the influence of medication.

Yeah, just to get his name on the poster! That is so funny, it is the funniest thing ever, it will never stop being funny.

"J. Ro" is a c**t.
However, this does look like one of the most dire action movies to come out of Hollywood in a long, long time, so he might have had a point.
Still better than Bulletproof Monk though.
