In the books, quidditch is mostly played between the houses of Hogwarts, although in ‘The Goblet of Fire’, the Weasley’s, Hermione and Harry all go to the Quidditch World Cup. Now because the book doesn’t mention every single character who plays quidditch, most of the names are made up.
Within the game, you can play House vs House and Country vs Country. At the start, you only have the USA and England ground available. You must play a country at their home ground and beat them to unlock their ground. The House quidditch doesn’t get left out. There are many challenges to complete, which can unlock characters and grounds, so there is plenty to do.
Doing combinations of passes and scoring will eventually earn you a team special move. If I remember correctly, one of the House teams moves gives you 4 goals in one go. You don’t have to do anything for special moves, you simply see a clip of your team performing it. There are also special shots, such as throwing the quaffle up and smacking it with your broom.
You can change the difficulty of your game if you find it too easy. These include Nimbus 2000 and Firebolt difficulties (the difficulties are named after brooms. The better the broom, the harder the game).
It’s a nice little game that was released alongside the movies. It’s not amazingly good, but it’s fun. The game does eventually get very boring, seeing as matches become similar, although there is lots to unlock. Just don’t get your hopes up.
Game Rating: 4/10
