It's been a while since I posted anything here, so, I thought I'd slam a poem down here...

My Bittersweet Poison
Like wire you wrap me up, like a gift
Or present – your barbs break the skin, and tears
Of blood trickle helplessly, mindlessly
Down my body. You’ve harmed me beyond pain,
Depressed me beyond tablets, and pushed me
Beyond limits, but of course I’ll come back,
Begging for more, and all because of your
Love for me – your love, my anaesthetic
Against the forces of logic and the
Perils of truth.
I tried to run away,
But you were still there: right behind me and
Ready to take me back into your sweet,
Sweet arms. But am I ready to return
Anyway? Perhaps I really would be
Best off without you? You’ll say no, of
Course, but I’ve had enough. I’m throwing
In the towel; I’m going cold turkey; I’m
Leaving you forever.
Because now I
Know what I’ve been told: you’re my sickness. I’ll
Run away, never to return, and who’ll
Be laughing last then? You’ll be laughing, won’t
You? Laughing at me, because I’ll never be
Free. I’ll never be able to cut loose of
Your binds and your reigns: you’ll keep me in pain,
I’ll stay just the same, because you’re my one
And only, my very special, treasured
And oh-so-divine bittersweet poison.
