My GeForce3 is still a top card for me, I still haven't found a game that slows it down considerably yet (bar Sim City 4, but that's more to do with the CPU intensive stuff).

I'd like to add that while ATI Radion cards are more faster that the current G-Force crop, they arn't half as backward compatable as the nVidia range. I always go for nVida on the basis that I know a 5-8 year old D3D/GL game will work fine with thir GPUs. Can ATI boast that?

:D.

It is stupid to get a high graphics card if your just using the computer for the internet/word processing - but if you like a spot of gaming, a nice card is a good idea.

I already said my card more than fulfils my needs, why would I envy you?*

*disclaimer: I'm looking at getting a 9600 Pro meself, but that's more to replace the Radeon 7000 in the other machine, which is only about a month old :O/

Agreed. My Radeon 8500 kicks all my current games around like childrens toys, and you can get an equivalent card these days for about £60-£70.

Wise words from the guy below - in fact, I'll go one further and say that you probably won't need a graphics card upgrade if you are using your exisiting computer to do this now, unless it's integrated.

I say go for whatever it is you need it for. By that I mean go for a really cheap card if you are using your PC for MP3s and Word Processing only - if you are only using it for playing the latest games then go for something a little more expensive and a little more powerful. Carefull when choosing between the brands; often the tests used to compare them are unrealistic and not evenly matched...

I think you can still get TI4400 SE's off Ebuyer for about £80
