The slightly heightened excitement I get when I first see the huge trimmings in the shopping centre and pub, a slight tingling sensation. I could smell and taste the cold, you know - first thing on a cold frozen morning, just as you step out of the door, the one that immediately turns the moisture in your lungs into icicles.
This feeling is probably not helped by the fact that I have been singing songs from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang all morning with a few from Mary Poppins and Oliver thrown in for good measure.
While I dislike the commercialisation of Christmas and the money you have to waste to buy certain family members gifts, I wish I could bottle that feeling. It cheers me up. I could make my fortune.
Well I'll grab my coat now. I need to go to the bakery as I also have a craving for mince pies - iced of course.
O/:)

I actually get a warm happy feeling when I get my parents and friends gifts.
I love Christmas time, and (although I am not sure if God exists, let alone religous)enjoy all the festivities. I find nothing wrong with buying others gifts, as it is all part of the festive season.
I have just wrapped some of the christmas presents I have already bought, simply as I have had the flu all week and when I felt slightly better I thought I would
Turn that frown upside down!
HeHe I never get tired of saying that....
Anyway not to drag on and give you my life story,
To cut a long story down to a slightly-less-longer story
Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christams ........... or better still, Merry October the 18th
;)

I'm not religious, and I do not believe Jesus existed beyond a very clever man, but I will celebrate Christmas with the thought in my heart that it's the time of year where the increase in suicides and toy adverts on tv are pretty equal.
Christians took Christmas and tried to make it appealing, businesses took over and made it sell. Inbetween those two terms is something we like to call 'good tidings to all men'. And before all that some virgin gave birth to what could have been the son of the Almighty.
We don't celebrate the birth of the world because we don't know when it is. But Christmas, or so it seems, is the birth of celebration. And does it really matter if, across the world, nobody takes a blind bit of notice that it's just about this bloke that most of the world tend not to believe in?
Nah.
I doubt Jesus and the Good Ol' Mighty [if they do exist] would be that bothered to find that people celebrate and spend time together for at least one day of the year in comfort knowing they made another 365 days without dying, if they don't send Him a card.
Guess it's nice to remember, but I think the point is surely missed.
> I've gotta see Nightmare Before Christmas again..
Got it on DVD. If you get the latest version it has a short film on too.
Great Escape is a New Year film, though. Still good enough to watch many times though.

Ive never watched it, the only person in my family that actually watches it is my gran. Probably because she thinks the monarchy is bloody great.
