To plug into downstairs Pc, allowing it to recieve files and use aDSL

To plug into the laptop when I get it, also sharing files and aDSL

I need all PCs to be able to use the aDSL and share files. Peripherals are not a worry. Also, it says these things have a 550M range @ 1mbps.
This should mean I can get 11mbps on my downstairs PC (about 4m away) and 1mbps on my latop at school (no more than 250m away)?

All comments are welcome, unless they tell me to go for wired network :P

If they've got any sense, they will have secured it so it can't be used outside!

The range of 802.11 is pretty limited and thick concrete walls certainly stop it.

It'll work in your house but the chances of you getting a decent connection in your school are pretty remote. My company have been testing wireless lan for a while and are about to give it up for off site use purely cos of the dodgy connections we get due to weather/atmosphere etc.

All I can say is make sure ebuyer will take the goods back if they dont work.

Should all work. Would be pretty cool having ADSL at school :).

One problem is that until you try it at home you can't be sure it will actually work. One of my friends wanted to share his dads ADSL on his computer downstairs to a computer upstairs and the wireless network would not work, so he ended up getting ADSL on his phone line as well. But another friend has a wireless network for his laptop and he was using his laptop upstairs while the main computer was downstairs.

Should work for you unless you have things that interfere with the frequency. Both my friends live quite close to each other so I doubt it was anything like that stopping my one of my friends wireless network from working between upstairs and downstairs.
