I have just stared to learn HTML and i think i am ok with it so far. I have 1 row at the top of my page and 2 columns below it. In the one column i will have hyperlinks for different pages and i can do this with HTML but i'm not sure how to use CSS to help save me some typing time, anyone got any ideas that could help or any good tutorial websites please?

Well, I was using that as a copy and paste example really. External stylesheets are a great idea though.

I thought staffies were allowed to post HTML on here/ either way it hasn't worked.

An external stylesheet might solve your problem, Fishtobeking, so that you can implement it into every page that needs it with only typing it once.

If you're learning HTML for the first time, and want to pick up some elements of other languages along the way, you should try http://www.htmlgoodies.com.

Basically, you can use CSS to save time when formatting stuff- text colors, sizes, fonts, underlines and bolds, as well as many other elements.

An example stylesheet:

This simply sets the STYLE 'redtext' as red. Call the style with:

This text will be red

Thats pretty much how CSS works. More info on HTMLGoodies.
