Anyone know of a good program to do this? I know I can simply plug my MD player into my PC's line in and record, but I don't want to have to manually seperate the tracks from an album - I've got too many MD's I need to rip to be bothered doing that. So I either need a program that will recognise the pauses between tracks, or one that will split the mp3 files at a later date....

Also, what do most people use for ripping their Cd's, gonna also have to rip my entire CD collection!

Oh, and my iRiver 140 kicks ass ;-)

Due to my retardedness, and refusal to spend money on an upgrade, I'm still running 98, so can't use iTunes :-(

Again, iTunes. It's free, and it's an excellent program.

Media Player can be used for this, but it's not entirely reliable, because it will sometimes copy a whole album/playlist, not just track-by-track. For ripping you can also use Nero copier programs, which if used correctly can provide 320Kbp quality sound.

i use jriver media player mostly for ripping cd's

for md's cakewalk pyro or something similar may be worth checking out. I use it for vinyll. Never found a reliable splitter though other than manual.

I use iTunes, provides it's own DB structure, and you have loads of recording options etc.
