I expect this to have reduced in price by around christmas time, when I may pick one up. Anyway, I was just wondering how the super small dvd discs for the PSP are going to work? Will they become a main staple within the handheld technology market? Hence wiping out regular sized dvd's or what. Does anyone know?

Does any 1 know when the psp is comin out. i heard it was 29 april here is this right?

All us dvd owners would be pretty p!ssed if we had to change format in a few years anyway.

I laugh whenever I see the PSP lauded for it's movie playback capabilities.
Mainly because the UMD back catalogue consists of Sony classics like 'Resident Evil: Apocalypse'.

I think some DVD's will probably be packaged with a UMD disc as a collectors edition or something. I guess it'll depend on how successful the PSP really is, and whether people will use it for watching DVD's or just games. I wouldn't like to do the market research for that one.

There were some companys thinking about making UMD dvd players so maby 1 day they will take over Normal dvd's

Dumb idea really isn't it. If anything, only the flavour of the month type films will be put on these little discs. Nothing I'd actually want.

I doubt they'll see much use outside of the PSP itself.
And I doubt many companies will put their films onto UMDs, just for that market.
And I doubt many people would buy a UMD film when they can get the DVD instead.
