I've been playing Ace Combat all day and I'm on what seems to be the last mission. I spent about 15 minutes blowing crap up and then I was asked to fly into a small tunnel to destroy some computer core. I blew up the core no problem but on the way out of the other side of the tunnel I hit a stupid piece of metal hanging from the tunnel roof.
Fair enough it was my mistake, but did I really need to go all the way back to the beginning of the mission? A checkpoint system would be nice, that's about 25 minutes right down the pan. Crud.

Reminds me of the old platforming games where you'd battle all the way to the end of a level, killing countless beasties and collecting 793 crystals/rings/mushrooms/whatever and then you'd do something stupid like fall down a hole which sends you aaaallllll the way back to the start. Shortly after such an event the controller would be lobbed half way across the room, breaking pretty much every fragile object in the area. Hehe...retro games really were £60 well spent...

Aha! Done and done. Finished this today, frustrating at times, but a great game overall.
