Problem with that is that it is based in america, and as they say on their site that if you try from other countries the results will be slower that they should be. I pinged it and the average latency was 134ms, which is quite a long time compared with as uk site (www.ukgames.com for example, which is 23ms on average). Still, its a fairly good test compared to most.

good point, I usally wait for the summary box at the end that says total size, time taken and average speed. But even that is wrong if you take 10 seconds to name a file.

The free broadband speed checker that was on download.com last year has gone, any idea's where I can find one/

Basically, when the save file box comes up it starts downloading. If you leave it for like 20 seconds while naming the file and the total download takes 30 seconds, it will appear to download the file in just 10 seconds at a faster rate.

If you leave the save box for longer than it takes to download, when you finally name the file and decide where to save it, the download will appear to be instant.

Easy.

tell me about it,

it's probably about 1.50MB maybe faster, gues it just depends on the server you are downloading from.
