When i was at primary school we watched a series that was part of the look and read programme called Through the Dragon's Eye. It was about this golden hexagonal thing that shattered into six pieces and it was like the key to defeating an evil crow thing called Charn.

Well anyway, in my nostalgia i done a search on google and it turns out they are repeating the series on the cbbc channel from feb 2nd 2004.

There were two series' - one in 1991 and the other in 1992 - was about an alien who could change into any non-living object - after him was an evil alien who could change into any person. Was quite odd but I liked it.

Was around the same time as Dizzy Heights Hotel.

Not quite the same sort of thing, but does anyone remember CBBC's Watt on Earth from the early 90s?

"Oh no, the veetacore has shattered! It gives life to Palamar"
"This sounds rather familiar...a dragon trying to get me to save a fictional world...a bit like The Never Ending Story"
"No it isn't, now find my veetacore!"

I remember that, with the pidgeons - now that was poor in comparison to Through the Dragon's Eye:

"North & South
East & West
Tis the quest
to save the land of Palamar
Goes by"

(something like that)

We also had to sit through a series about a bloke on a british isle with a fold up bike..can't remember much else about that one

The war one was called Spywatch, not The Machine Gunners.

The Machine Gunners was a Robert Westall book.
