I'm no fan of social networking - mybook, and facespace, etc. but thought I would give Twitter a try.
As with most things it all depends on how you use it and for me I've found it quite a useful tool.
As pb says, it's a good way to easily and quickly keep in touch with developments in things that interest you.

@twitter I like Twitter. It just depends on who you have on it.
Twitter keeps me up to date with Sega, Sony and a host of other things from companies or famous people.
I rely on wikipedia for that.
