It all depends on the chipset, most Diamond modems use up to date Rockwell conextant chipsets (the best going) and are fast. The external CL modem blaster uses this chipset also.

Unless it is Hardware then NO. Avoid any software or AMR modems, there more trouble than there worth. SR sell on e for £30

The best advice I've ever had was to buy external modems, they may be more expensive but they are better. They usually perform slightly faster, don't take up an IQ, you can unplug them and they have little lights that you can pretned to know what they mean.

Avoid USB modems at all costs though, they're too slow.

I've just placed my order for the Diamond 56e External Modem. It look good on your desk too.
