"This is disgusting, sophomoric humor, and I'm disappointed in Nintendo," said Susan Jeffereys, a mother of two and a part-time elementary school teacher in Sherrerville, Indiana "It's like Disney releasing pornography."
Jeffereys, who has not played the game, said she mistakenly bought "Conker's BFD" for her 15-year-old son for his birthday. "Now I know why the clerk smirked when I paid for this," she said.
Well Ign gave the game a 9.9, the game has UK language so it wil certainly be a hit with the British as we have asense of humor, abviously Nothing interesing happens in Indiana so this woman decided to kick up a fuss...and er...if anyone you know causes a fuss...pi$$ on them....ha ha ha...Sorry...but seriously The game is directed very much towards the British sense of humor. The game has sold in America because of the Hype and Now it will sell in the UK because of the Gameplay and Attitude....what a dastardly plan by those Twycross terrors!
The Game
For my 2 penneth, the way the media has presented GeeDubyuh to me is not as an unintelligent man. He does come accross as dangerous to me, though.
His stance on capital punishment is beyond me. He insists it's a deterent and yet many of the states with the highest execution rates also have the highest murder rates. But just don't get me started...
Anyway, as far as Conker is concerned, it is a little strong to complain about a game which is clearly marked as mature and has many subtle and not so subtle references on the box art.
However, a nintendo published game with a cute looking squirrel on the front could be confused by those with a poor attention to detail as one of the N64's almost exclusively cute and kiddie safe back catalogue.
I think it is the fact that this game is coming out out on the nintendo format that has served to fuel the controversy.
Nintendo has been viewed by many as producing cute looking games with universal appeal. But as nintendo themselves have admitted, even their audience is growing up.
The gamecube needs maturer titles to atract the twenty and thirty something gamers that Nintendo missed out on with it's last console.
Any ideas for maturer GC titles?
Off the top of my head, a Rare produced Dusk till dawn license using the new Zelda engine would get me excited.
Pardon me, while I laugh...Okay, maybe I won't laugh...I'll just, well...oh nevermind. =)
a bunch of squirels with AR-47's
and
Son of Star Wars
In that both are uneffective in war, look at how many squirrels get shot up in the Saving Private Ryan rip off in ConkersBadFurDay an youll see what I mean.
If the box looks too violent... people complain.
If people have a hard time telling if the product is violent or not... people complain.
If people have a hard time understanding the difference between reality and squirels with AR-47's... people complain...
...I wonder why George W. Bush was elected...

Which brings us back to the Americans lack of intelligence sterotype :)
