Damned by dreams that emasculate
Whichever thoughts grow fond
A ritual that once grew great
Before the broken bonds
Elevated past darkened doubt
Tattooed bystreet-light fraud
The taxman knocks, reasons without
Civilian levy duly stored
Forgetting sinful syntax
Forging sentences of stealth
Intricately evading tax
And procuring piles of wealth.
To save their seats politicians lie
With bribes they don’t resent
With starving hunger babies cry
Whilst income tax is sadly spent
Witness wily officials in their jaguars
Diamonds nested in wife’s ears
Then see taxpayers in economy cars
They saved for years and years
Will no one break the circle of lies
And do the whole country a favour
Recall the day democracy died
The birthday of New Labour

I find it difficult to comment on poetry, especially rhyming poetry, mainly because I don't tend to like it or I don't know how to judge it. But having said that, this one had a genuine thrust about it - kind of sharp and muscular - the anger and disillusionment comes through.

This is a good poem, great in fact, it is articulate and very original

I know I have said it many times but, it is a refreshing change from some of the Threads and stale topics around

Amazing poem, man

When I saw this was a poem my heart sank.

Fortunately, it was the nuts, and my heart was okay again :^)

Excellent, as usual. Democracy will never work, as it is as you say built on lies, deceit and greed.

This doesn't really apply to this post, but i think it is oh so true.

"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."

This is all, to a certain extent, true. And all protesters should remember that. But it shouldn't stop any of 'em protesting. That's what freedom is about. An attempt to shame people into shutting up...well, that's not really freedom, is it?

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Excellent support service!
I have always found the support staff to provide an excellent service on every occasion I've called.
