I delete my cookies every month or two, all my accounts on sites still work...
You must of done something else...
Although when i delete the cookies SR does ask me for my password again, but thats it, the account should still work...
You did ask SR if they could set your account up again with a new password or just add your stats on to your new account didnt you???
if not ask them, if you give them the correct password or email or something i dont see why they couldnt do that, just make sure that you can prove that it is you...

You say you'll stick with your name but then you'll accidentally delete a cookie and then you'll have to come on as your old name but with a '2' after it.
