Since drinking seems to have gone up in price in Scotland and similar ideas have been talked about here, it's worth discussing whether this will affect you.

I don't think it will change my drinking habits if prices rise. I don't drink enough to be really affected by it but I can see there are plenty who will.

If it stops at least some drink related incidents or cuts down on binge drinking then it's probably worth it, just as raising the cost of cigarettes seems to work on a small scale. However, if they raise the tax level to increase prices then this should go back into something related, like more money for the NHS.

Any thoughts or comments on how price rises on drink would affect you or the nation as a whole?

I don't really drink that much anyway but an extra 10p on a pint isn't really going to affect me too much, it is more likely to bother my mates who are due to leave Uni this summer as they have become too used to SU prices.

I personally think that while places like Wetherspoons exist (£1 a bottle) raising the price of booze wont stop people drinking and visiting pubs. Banning smoking in pubs and clubs on the other hand..... oh

As you all know I'm the only person on the forum who doesnt drink, smoke or take drugs. So I wouldnt mind a higher tax on alcohol and stopping supermarkets from selling cheap beer, oh and of course stopping the commercials on tv.

If they do increase the tax the money should go towards the NHS, the town CCTV, the police and the councils so they can clean up their mess.

Now we just have to find out a way to stop girls going out and binge drinking and getting into fights.

Yeah, I've noticed a lot of pubs increase their prices - 2 pints costing over £6!? That's just silly.

We should all go to China where you can apparently get pints for about 25p. Drunk on £2.50, anyone?

The statement is a lie because I don't do any of those things either and never have done. :)

Just like you're the only person old enough to remember Button Moon? ;)
I might have a drink once a year, otherwise I'm clean of all 3.

Ah I can trump you both. I've also not used any prescription medication since I was 15.

Chain them to the radiators, the sink or the oven, just like in the good old days.

Nor I :) I never drink excessively anyway -- never been sick from drinking. Surprisingly.

Yay! Button Moon!

I don't drink much as a bit of alchy gives me migraines, however I do like a bit of Brains Smooth every now and then.

I used to be a cider drinker but have gone off it now.

If booze was to go up in price i probably wouldn't even notice. I dont think i ever pay any notice about how much drinks are when im out. I dont even know the prices of drinks. I only notice if im actually buying booze from a shop. i can spend anywhere between £40 to £150 a night. (I don't go out as often as i use too)

Cant say i get in to any fights. Enough fights go on without me adding to it :P
