Part of an EC Directive, the new law means that Email details (when and who you sent an email to, rather than the actual email itself) will have to be stored by ISPs and can be seen when requested by authorities.
Of course, there is the arguement that if you're doing nothing wrong then you don't need to worry, but it all feels like a step too far to me.

Seriously though, it is a bit worrying. 1984 springs to mind. I can't remember if it already applies or is coming soon but similar information is already or about to be avaialble to the government about our telephone and mobile calls...
