Now, as i've said i am an N64 fan and as a consequence I don't like playstations. However my friend has recently got SmackDown 2 on the PSX and i went over to play it. I hate to admit it but I really enjoyed playing it, The storylines are good, not great like No Mercys, there are a huge variety of matches eg: TLC, Table,Hardcore,Ladder,Caksket etc
The graphics on the game are very smooth aswell. Much better than No Mercys blocky graphics. what isn't as good as No Mercy However is the gameplay. And as far as I'm concerned gameplay is the most important part of a game. No Mercys gameplay is absolutley outstanding. I played a ladder match for 2 and a half hours and still couldn't let myself get up the ladder for the beltfor the sheer enjoyment i was getting out of the match. The truth is most games nowadays go in for graphics over gameplay which is a big mistake as it is gameplay which persuades fans to play games and enjoy them.
Most other wrestling games I've played, like SmackDown 1, WWF Warzone, Attitude, WCW Mayhem all have really good graphics but rubbish gameplay. Because the game market is so huge at the moment companys are churning out games extremley quickly not allowing time to actually develop on the game itself and just thnking that classy graphics and an official liscense will make it people buy it.
To conclude what I'm basically saying is that developers should only release games when they are ready to be realesed. Game players are happy with fewer games that are good fun to play. I personally think that alot of wrestling games out at the moment are a pile of rubbish and shouldn't have been realeased at all.
I would like to here anyones thoughts on this, wrestling fan or not.
