Is it any surprise when they elect utter morons who are beholden only to big business and who have absolutely no interest in representing the people of the country they preside over?
There's only a limited amount of time that other nations can be kept poor and dependant before trouble kicks off...

I remember reading that American Medicine companies sent over all they're crap, non-labbeled and out-of-date drugs and nobody could use them.
But this helped the 'aid' statistics

Well if i remember rightly, Bush fixed the election with the help of his cousin/brother who was a big figure in Florida by getting rid of around 86% of those who voted so that he finally had enough votes to win the election.
Anyway the choice was either him or no personality Gore a choice even worse then what we have in England for political parties so either way they couldn't win.

Ok, so he's on the board of 3 of them and the CEO of the main research company but hey, that's just cynicism.

2 questions for you to answer if you please IB.
1) Have you been to America more than once? If so how long have you been there for? (2 questions in one but ah well)
2) Have you met and talked to, in-depth, to more than 10 Americans in your lifetime?
> Anyway the choice was either him or no personality Gore
Not entirely true; Ralph Nader was running, as was former Green Beret (and all round anti-semitic bigot) Bo Gritz. If only the US and UK would see beyond the 2 biggest parties, then perhaps we'd actually have something resembling a real choice...

I've been to Florida once, for two weeks. During that time, I spoke to a number of Americans for lengths well in excess of 10 minutes. However, all of these were before i had a) any idea of anything to do with politics and b) any knowledge of the american people in general
The most telling thing I ever saw about the american people was a programme which compared them to their neighbours, the Canadians. At one point, they ran around asking the same 10 questions to a bunch of canadians and a bunch of americans.
The canadians got something like 8-9 out of 10 (they were all simple general knowledge questions) while the Americans struggled to pull in any points at all.
The gist of the whole programme was that if it isn't happening right in their faces, the americans don't have a clue about it.
I have no doubt that they produce their fair share of intellectuals and influential individuals, but the ast majority of them live in their own little world and couldn't care less about anything beyond their own back yard.
