Does anyone know another word for However except from 'but' because my english teacher keeps moaning that my essay is too repetetive, if anyone could help i would be greatful!

I need to know a word by the end of tonight because the essay is due in tomorrow!

In my years as a trainee teacher and a classroom assistant I found that this was one of the most common issues with English work in schools.

I think it's partly that the teachers at a primary level (where I had most of my experience) aren't critical enough of kids because they worry too much that I might reduce their love of writing.

This carries on in to secondary schooling and the older children find it harder to change their habits.

I'm sure I was as guilty as anyone of repeating words far too much in my secondary classes. 'Then' 'and' and 'however' are three common repetitions.

Using another word is only one way to get around repeating the same word again. Another way is to restructure your sentence.
