"Bit of Help Choosing a Game Please"

Hello everyone - basically i am going to town in a day or two to find myself a nice new game. While Fifa is a strong one, i think i will be getting Pro Evo (but may get FIFA and something else)

I am thinking about something on the Online multiplayer side of things. Which makes me think Halo 3 or Gears of War. Just wanted some help choosing one or a different one.

I have an RPG i am playing and just want some good oline fun for xbox or ps3!

Any help would be great.

The thing now is that i want to go and buy like 4 or 5 games!

I am going into town tomorrow and will be purchasing at least one game then. My gamertag is on my profile and i will add everyone asap. Just not been about much. Went and saw Taken last night (still played a bit of Blue dragon lol)

Forza 2 and Viva Pinata are £10 together online, so don't spend more than that for them if you get them in the shops.

Oh yeah, sorry :) I meant Wipeout HD on the PSN, Wipeout Pure is the PSP one.

mm. Yes, Wipeout HD. Well worth downloading.

I'd recommend:

COD4
Halo 3
Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Gears of War

in that order. Reason I'm putting GOW in 4th is that the sequel comes out in November at which point nobody will be left playing the original (probably).

You'll probably find if you get FIFA for the 360 that you'll never be short of online opponents 24/7.

Forza 2 (sim racing) and Burnout Paradise (arcade racing) are also hugely popular online. Pure is the new quadbike offroader on the block and looks brilliant.

Out of all of these I'd guess COD4 and Forza 2 are my most played outside of the RPG genre. The official top 10 on the 360 based on unique user activity are:

It's interesting that Duke Nukem 3D is there as it's the only arcade title, you might want to browse a few of the other arcade games.

Currently I spend most of my time in Phantasy Star Universe, but it's £6.99 a month on top of the game to take it online.

On a final note, Wipeout Pure is probably pretty neat too, and very cheap.

Buy Pure Emmie it rocks.Been playing it all week and still suck at it !.It has 3 types of races on it (all playable online) straightforward races with stunts,sprint races(fast short tracks) and freestyle where stunts are scored but its not a race as such (first on track gets the better power up and tricks).Its pretty shallow but the novelty hasn't worn off for me yet,think its great fun.Post your gamertag here if you do get it (that goes for anyone else too).

i think i may pick up Halo - seems to be the game i would enjoy most online. But ill see what budgets allow then and how much i can find it for.

I keep meaning to add everyone on Xbox live but forget when i get home lol.

Halo 3 is still worth a punt, GAME and Blockbuster both have the nice tin version cheap now.

All the reviews so far recommend the new FIFA over Pro Evo on both formats.

Based on my playing it at a mate's house and on Pete's review, I'd recommend Pure as well. It's £30-£35 in the shops new as well.

I'd personally recommend Frontlines: Fuels of War as well. It's an aquired taste, mind you and the single player is woefully short, but I just love the freedom of the multi-player game.
