What consoles did/do you own? (Dont worry you can just list them)

-----

Atari 2600 - Okay we didnt actually own this but our cousins did, we played on it every time we visited them. This was in the very early 80ies so they didnt have many games, we played pong a lot and most of the other classics. It was great, my first experience at playing computer games :)

BBC Micro - I think most of you guys got the Spectrum, we got this instead. I'll be damned if I can remember the games I played on it but we loved it. It was also my first exposure to pornography on computers. My dad had a disk with a naked lady on it heh.

Commodore 64 - Woo! I think we still have this somewhere in the house. We had lots of games, just looking at the list of games on Wikipedia, there are so many. This is such a long time ago I can't remember all the oens we played. Spy Vs Spy was one of them or did we played that on the BBC, ah I forget.

Amiga 600/1200 - I think we had both these the first was made in the UK but I'm pretty sure we still have the latter somewhere in the house. Again we played a lot of games and I think you could get a lot of demos from magazines which was great. One game we liked was this Viking one, where you threw axes to cut the pigtails off women heh. Zool and James Pond I remember playing too.

Gameboy - How cool was this, now we could go anywhere and play games. We had so many games, Tetris, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Paperboy, Duck Tales, yeah I cant remember the rest :/ maybe we didnt have lots of games but we played them a lot.

Megadrive - You either had Sega or Nintendo, if you had both you were considered rich, or atleast in my eyes back then. We ended up with the Megadrive which was a great console and had lots of great games I mean we spend hours and hours each day playing it. Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Mortal Combat, Sonic, Aladdin, Zombies Ate My Neighbours LOL god I remember that game, I even completed it. Killing zombies with water pistols heh.

Sometimes I wished we'd got a SNES instead because all the good RPGs seemed to be on there :(

Playstation - We ignored the Jaguar and the Saturn, maybe because we couldnt afford them but when the Playstation came out it was definitely something we wanted and we got it and my god were we in for a treat. I think we played games even more than we did before. We were certainly spending a lot of money on them. Then this game called Final Fantasy VII came out and wow what a game. Now you didnt need Ninteno to play great RPGs anymore.

Dreamcast - My relationship was short with this console, but we had some great games on it. Crazy Taxi was one of my favourites, I just loved relaxing, listening to the music driving through everything and everyone. Power Stone another great game I enjoyed playing with my friends, it was just so crazy lol.

Playstation 2 - Excellent, better graphics, better games, everyone's still playing on it. I think my brothers played more on it than me. I played Dynasty Warriors a lot, Timesplitters was great, Final Fantasy X of course. Strange since that game has come out gone knows how many years ago I ahvent given Square any of my money, what are they doing wrong :S. Oh Grand Theft Auto what a great game, maybe I should have mentioned this in the Playstion bit. Apart from them and maybe a few others games I havent played many on teh PS2. I don't know why, I mean my brother buys all the games now, I tend to watch him complete them. I think the last new game I played on teh PS2 was Rumble Roses, I'm such a perv.

Xbox - My brother gave up the PS2 for the Xbox, the other day he bought this game and completed it within 2 days. What a waste :) The console is in his room and his room isnt the nicest so I rarely play on it unless it's a good game. We played the latest Timsplitters, of course the Halo games, we loved playing on them. Another game I really loved playing, can't remember what it was called but it had those dog fight planes from WWII anyone know the name? Me and my older brother loved playing that online. We did pretty well but of course there were lots of people who you could tell play it for hours every day. Haven't played it in awhile.

I remember it was my younger brothers birthday or was it Christmas I forget, I bought him the Xbox live starter kit. He wasnt interested at all and felt like I wasted my money and could have got him something else instead. What happens? Yep he ends up loving it and spending hours and hours late into the night on it. He even made lots of friends and went to Alton Towers with a bunch of them. Unfortunately for him his 1 year expired and so did the credit card you needed and he hasn't been online for a very long time. I'm sure he'll get the 360 one day and go back online but he's terrible with his money.

Gamecube - My brother bought me this for my birthday. I don't know why I said I wanted to play some of the games, but I never did buy them so the console is lying around somewhere. I never really got the chance to play on it. Maybe I should sell it now.

-----

Okay that's all of them, at the moment I'm playing more games on the PC, but when the next lot of consoles come out I'm sure I'll get them, maybe even the Wii if it's cheap as everyone says it will be.

Replace the N64 with a copy of Disgaea 2 and that was my reaction :-D That damned packaging is hard to get off, just have to keep clawing away at it until it comes off :-)

I don't know why but I think of Kawada when I watch this. heh. He's probably like this whenever he gets one of his RPG games ;)

My parents never got me a console so I never had the oppurtunity, come to think of it I don't think I ever got a really good present, well good enough to go demon child crazy like this kid.

48K Spectrum

It was great. You had to have your own tape player and all those crazy loading noises. Spent most of my time on a game called Maze Chase, Super Trolley and Kikstart. They used to show Kikstart the TV show on the BBC. The power pack burnt out so we got...

128K Spectrum

It was the one with the built in tape player. Still works to this day, although the tapes have seen better days. I mostly played games like First Division Manager, which had some really funky music, some game show games like Blockbusters, Krypton Factor, Bob's Full House and Every Second Counts and Formula 1.

Megadrive

After seeing Sonic being played when I went round a mates house, I had to get one myself. Sonic was, by far, my most played game. Then, of course, you got Sonic 2, Sonic 3 with Sonic and Knuckles and all the other Sonic games. They were the only games though. Games like Super Monaco Grand Prix 1 and 2, Micro Machines 2 with it's multiplayer and Road Rash were played a lot too.

As someone said, it was either a SNES or a Megadrive. Sonic was a very key factor in my decision to get a Megadrive but the other reason was that SNES games in my local shop, the only place in town that sold games, were £10 more expensive.

That isn't to say I never played a SNES. That shop used to rent out a SNES which I did a few times. I was more happier playing F-Zero than Super Mario. I did complete Super Mario World though, which I was pleased with.

Back to the Megadrive theme, I did happen to acquire a 32X and a Mega CD. The 32X was mainly for Virtua Racing. The Mega CD was for Sonic CD and Night Trap, which we thought was hilarious at the time.

Moving on...

Amiga

Someone we knew was selling their Amiga. We didn't know much about it so we gave it a trial run. Grand Prix 1 was probably what persuaded me. It was only a matter of time before we found a few more games and a few more people who owned one. Sensible Soccer was a stand out game, especially as we made our own teams. I had a black joystick with yellow buttons that still remains as the best joystick I've ever used.

PC

My brother started working in the building of PC's etc and so we got a really cheap 486, which was almost the height of technology. We slowly upgraded and got a few more computers... I've got 2 in my room with a server which connects to one in my sisters room and one in my parents room. We've also a laptop which can connect to the network via our wireless internet connection. I also recently got a more up to date computer so I can play recent PC games again.

Games like Grand Prix 2 and Dune 2 in the early days were my particular favourites and then games like Monkey Island, Grand Prix 2 and 3 and Championship Manager (now Football Manager) take a lot of hours.

Game Gear

Somewhere along the line, I picked up a Game Gear, mainly for Sonic once again but it was very handy when we went to Silverstone as it picked up TV with the TV tuner. Sonic, Sonic Drift Racing and Tails Adventure were pretty cool.

Gameboy

Picked up one really cheap while on holiday. I don't really have many games for it. It's more of a distraction during a slow period on holiday. I suppose I could get some games for it if I wanted to.

Playstation

I got this as a present and it was mostly Formula 1 at the time that I was playing to begin with. Crash Team Racing was probably my favourite recent gaming achievement by completing it fully. TOCA and GTA were also a couple of good games, although I prefer GTA 1 and 2 on the PC.

Playstation 2

The natural progression was to get a PS2 and I mainly got it for Gran Turismo. The Tiger Woods games were a really good find and the GTA games were obviously huge. The PS2 is probably my favourite controller out of the 3 but they all have certain qualities.

Gamecube

Not having a Dreamcast, I missed the Sonic Adventure series but it was released on the Gamecube, so I picked that up sharpish. I really liked Super Monkey Ball and other games like Zelda, Mario Sunshine and Paper Mario.

X-Box

I had a good year playing freeroll poker so I picked up an X-Box. Nothing really stood out to me. It was more of a buy to complete the set. Picked up Burnout 3 and Halo which were both good. The paddles at the back of the controller are really handy for racing games so I've picked up a lot of racing games like Project Gotham, Forza and Outrun 2.

I think that's it. I've got emulators which don't really count, I've borrowed a Dreamcast and a Master System before and I've played games on a BBC and an Archi when at school.

I've probably bored you all so well done to those who read the whole thing.

SNES - The first console in my household. My Mum and Dad used to play it. My whole family loved Mario. I still sometimes take it out and play. It's still in perfect boxed condition, gonna be worth alot of MONEY!!!!!111

Game Gear Never played by me just my brothers, not much information, becuase I don't know anything.

N64 - This has to be the greatest console ever made. Why? THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: OCARINA OF TIME. I also still have this console, it's actually my brother's, he kept it becuase it was his favourite game. Still in 100% condition, with box.

PS1 - I didn't play it much, for some reason. The games on this are great thought. METAL GEAR SOLID. I still have this console but in a brutal condition, with no box or wires.

Gameboy Colour - It was a great handheld, and served good for it's time, with all the Pokemon games. I think it was the first to have multiplayer. I don't have it anymore, it got swapped for a PS2 game.

Gameboy Advance - When I got this, I was as happy as I was when I got my PSP. It's so good I still have it boxed.

PS2 - This made the sales rocket, as well as me. I bought it on release. The graphics are just too good to be true. I'm sure everyone must have this console by now. This did'nt last long until I had to buy a Slim Line. It was not long till it kept getting disk read erros. I have both slim line and original boxed and slim line in brand new condition.

Gamecube - A great console. It had everything to make a good Nintendo Console. It even had Zelda and Metal Gear Solid. I still have a purpel one, I still play it. I don't like it when people call it a kids console becuase it's not...

GBASP - Great remake, and a must buy. This served me well. But sadly I sold mines off when I got a Nintendo DS.

Nintendo DS Gameply on this was excellent. Only problem was it was too bulky. I sold it off for £80 to buy a DS Lite.

Xbox - I found this console truly shi**y. I found nothing appealing in this console. Within one weak it was sold off.

Dream Cast - My brother just bought this in the house for some reason, its boxed and brand new. He told me not to touch it ;(...

I probably had more Consoles but coulden't be bothered to type or rememmber...

Nintendo Entertainment System - I can't remember how long ago it was when we got it as I was very young. It was awesome though. My best memory of it was when me and my older brother watched in awe as my dad completed Mario for the first time. We've still got it somewhere with a few games, but unfortunately we haven't got the leads to plug it in.

Gameboy - One of the really big old grey ones. I got Mario, Judge Dredd and a Star Wars game with it. I had many great hours with it. It also showed me just how bad games could be when I bought some football game that was utterly, utterly appalling. I could never tell who had the ball or what was going on. It was the worst game I've played to this day.

Super Nintendo - My bro got one of these for Christmas whichever year it was that they came out. Donkey Kong was the best thing I'd ever seen at that time and I used to skive off school to play it sometimes. We got the Super Gameboy at some point, which enabled me to play my Gameboy games on the big screen.

Nintendo 64 - We got one of these pretty much on release. 3D Mario was astonishing to my young eyes and it was also the console responsible for Goldeneye - the game that remains my all time favourite to this day. ISS64 = best football game ever. My favourite console.

Playstation - I was pretty late getting one of these. I played WWF Smackdown around a friend's house and I knew immediately I wanted one. I went out the next day and bought one on the cheap. It gave me a few pleasures. I loved Driver, even though it frustrated the hell out of me at times. I bought one Tomb Raider game and promptly took it back, wondering why everyone liked it so much.

Gameboy Advance - The lack of a backlight did spoil things a bit but it was still the best thing I'd ever seen as far as handhelds are concerned.

Playstation 2 - Got one of these not long after release with Crazy Taxi and Sky Oddessey, both of which sucked something awful and I forgot to buy a memory card. It's given me a shedload of awesome games over the years. GTA III was the game Driver should have been and the game I'd always dreamed of. Vice City was the most fulfilling game I've played bar Goldeneye. San Andreas was good, but the novelty had worn off by then. MGS 2&3 remain as two of the best games I've ever played. Gran Turismo 3&4 are without a doubt the best racers I've ever played. The PS2 caused me the most frustration (and money for that matter) though. I'm on my third one now as my first two broke after a couple of years respectively. Build quality isn't there strongpoint.

Gamecube - Despite an awfully weak launch line up, it's given me some real gems over the past four or so years. The Wind Waker was superb, as was Metroid Prime, Mario Kart DD and Resident Evil 4. It may not have been the best investment I've ever made, but I think it was worth it.

Gameboy Advance SP - Silly thing to get really. I only got one through a lack of desire for anything else on Christmas 2003. It was nice to play with a backlight, but that was about it. Sold it now.

Xbox 360 - My Christmas 2005 present. Shockingly good visuals yes, but still not the leap I'd hoped for. Perfect Dark 0 was a disappointment of woeful proportions. The console currently sits on my desk, unused for about the past month. I sold all my games as I need the money for something else, and there's nothing that really interests me for it anyway.

ZX Spectrum 48K - my first computer

ZX Spectrum 48k + -when the original broke

ZX Spectrum 128K -the original with the toaster heatsink

Gameboy - The 'brick' one. Ordered a few games from the US but mostly played Tetris, R-Type and Mario.

Atari ST - Got this on my 18th Birthday

Amiga 500 - and sold it to get this.

SEGA Gamegear - Excellent handheld, let down only by battery life. Had the TV Tuner as well.

GB Colour - Not much of a step up, but felt better in colour.

Atari Lynx - Again, let down by batteries and the lack of 3rd Party support

PC (386) - My first PC, ah the memories ofCommander Keen and Wolfenstein.

SNES - Saw a mate's console with Streetfighter II and wanted it, saved up for ages to get one.

Megadrive - Had to collect the set, didn't I?!

PC (486) - Upgraded to play Star Wars X-Wing

Playstation - Cost me £299 a week after launch, but it was grant money, so I didn't care. Thanks John Major...

SEGA Saturn - Second hand and worth it for Daytona, Virtua Fighters & Burning Rangers

N64 - Another second hand one, the Goldeneye pack. Kept this console until about 4 months ago.

PC (Pentium) - Another upgrade

Dreamcast - The first of the next generation consoles, waited for ages for it on launch day. Still have it.

Game Boy Advance - Got one new at launch. Loved it, despite not being able to see the screen half the time.

PS2 - Took me until the year after launch to get one, from Spain. Lovely console at first, but then got bored of it. Still miss Gran Turismo.

GameCube - Again, got it on launch day with Star Wars and Luigi from SR.

Xbox - Picked up a second hand one eventually

Nintendo DS - Got one from the Stars Catalogue before launch. Hardly play it at the moment but will eventually get Advance Wars DS and Mario Kart.

PSP - Got it at launch, picked it up a week later as I was in Spain. Still have it in my pocket nearly every day.

and as of this Thursday...Xbox 360.
