Does freeola (htaccess) allow me to create a custom 404 page? I cant seem to spot anything in the documentation.

Yes, you can use .htaccess with your Freeola site.

Google for a tutorial - it's important to get it right or you can 'break' your site!

You'll need a 'proper' FTP client to control the hidden file - I can recommend Filezilla.
