TV advertising for Fire Emblem.

I am surprised.

Why wouldn't they?

Most major Nintendo GC releases have had TV advertising.

Because it's a little off the mainstream and I haven't seen other Nintendo RPGs get ads on TV (not since the 64).

Nintendo haven't made any GC RPGs yet as far as I can remember. FE and the new Pokemon are the first ones I think.

I was mainly thinking of Paper Mario.

The sort of thing I was pointing out is that they fail to properly advertise something like Pikmin 2 and then put an advert up for Fire Emblem.

Not that I'm saying they shouldn't, it's just that a lot of RPGs aren't the biggest sellers compared to other titles (and this combined with the GC being 3rd in the uk console line would make it an odd decision in some people's eyes) and I guess this is one of their big chirstmas games to plug.

I just didn't expect it to have an ad.

Oh yeah PM2, I think I did see an advert for that..

Nintendo Europe don't seem to advertise sequels though. There was loads for MP, but none for MP2. They seem to be working on the assumption that everyone heard about the first one and will automatically be aware of the second...

They work from a lot of very strange assumptions, though.
But, any advertising is good advertising, even if it seems rather random which games get it and which don't.

Just advertise Zelda until it explodes, or I will be very angry.

Yeah I agree.

Although after the disaster of Pikmin 2 and Metroid Prime 2, perhaps the finest Gamecube titles around, I'm sure they learnt their lesson.

Ha!

Just remembered they did the same for Donkey Konga 2. No one really bought that either.

It's not just the choice of game that seems a little odd, but the timing. I can't recall seeing many GC adverts back in the days when people actually wanted to play it. One now, is very much out of the blue.

I guess they have to do something to keep their presence alive - the FE advert will also remind people that the gamecube, and even ninty themselves, are still around.
