That's the spirit Bob. But you must admit that programmers and bosses have certain predictable traits. Programmers will invariable ask for more powerful servers and will leave out the quality control if they can. Meanwhile bosses will always complain and ask for a more disciplined approach to the work and the environment (e.g asset stickers on the servers).
And personally I think you should be asking for more staff not less.
(But I don't know any Bobs)

Just a quick note on the below rather sarcky post by my boss. Firstly quality control is nice but goes out the window quickly when you have to re-build a database server at 3PM on a Friday afternoon. As for new servers I only have one thing to say. Servers do not last for ever and when you trebale the load you do need to upgrade them. There is no such thing as future proof.
