Well not really it is just the press statement from Iwata it isn't Nintendo saying "this is our last console".

Nintendo's market plan is to tell everyone that it is about the games, yes PS2 has DVD and X-box is more powerful but we are a dedicated games machine. They are saying the games industry is all about better consoles, faster gameplay, better graphics etc... Nintendo are saying that graphics are now perfect as is the speed etc... and with everyone making the same games the gamers are just playing the same old stuff slightly differently.

A "King whose full up". The games are more important than the same old stuff, hence Zelda being cel shaded, Metroid being first person and the upcoming Roll a Rama game. Nintendo are concentrating their funds on new ideas than pumping billions in new hardware ideas. Whilst Sony are pumping billions in the PS3 Nintendo aren't working as much as they were on hardware but more on games.

They've always said that just never like this and everyone goes oooo they said it different does it mean this? No it does not, games not hardware, gameplay over graphics as always. Also if it does mean that which it doesn't then he is saying PS3, PS4 will roll by and we'll still be working on the cube (but they'll release other consoles as they need to keep up so they are blantently not saying that). So for christ sakes, IGN knew what they meant, Cube Euro did, just Planet Gamecube, gamesradar and SR (which get their news from gamesradar) interpreted it different. Don't worry, they'll be more Gameboy's too.

Well I'M obviously not an idiot then!

Besides, it's sort of old news.
Miyamoto's been saying for ages that he expects the Gamecube to last 8 years.

Still, I reckon that within the next 5 years there will be a technological advance worthy of keeping up with. Besides, as powerful as the Gamecube is, limits do show here and there.

I managed to find a hint of slowdown in Smash Brothers Melee...
I know that Hal weren't exactly going for the most efficiently optimised code around, but I still think there is some room for improvement.

Nothing to worry about now - the devellopers have only just begun to get into this new machine, but within the next 4 years, I think the limits will start to show...

What happened to cause the slowdown? I haven't had any problems.

Slowdown? Try expert level 17 on expert mode of SMB on 60Hz to see real slowdown.

I knew there'd always be GameBoys and games to play - whatever happens to Nintendo's future console plans - which is nothing now!

By the way, I heard about Rollerama, but is it simly Kirby's Tilt n Tumble, or is it a different game altogether??
And I also heard that because of this change, the Kirbster will be getting his own GameCube adventure in the future! :)

Wasn't there a Kirby-Rollerama style game out on the N64 in Japan only???
