I have a simple calendar script that reads a flat txt file containing the dates/events, this txt file is located in the cgi-bin, that is fine and works a treat.
However, I need the script to write to the txt file as an admin adds dates, am I right in saying that within the cgi-bin this is not possible ?
If you get stuck then it might be worth raising a support ticket as staffies will see the complete picture.
Yes the path will be critical whether using standard or VIP hosting.
Remember to let people know how you get on.

Strange thing is, this is a VIP+ hosted account, now the script requires the absolute path to the txt file. So if I set the path as /httpd/ the script wont read the file ?
I take it you've played around with CHMOD/permissions?
