I am using embed to display pdfs of a list of files on a site
it seems I can successfully do this as long as I locate the files under htdocs - I would like to find a way to store the source listing under the root somewhere
I have tried putting some in a folder called
/data/plant_files
but these will NOT display when called using embed as per the files listed in htdocs
I have tried setting the permissions to 755 on one the files - no joy

@hmmm I can use htdocs and in this instance I don't really mind - I just like the notion of in future being able to read the pdfs from other than htdocs and spewing them out - I presumed embed would just need read permissions
anyway I am trying a different strategy I have found a nifty lib called fpdf and am going to use it to generate my pdfs on the fly from flat files - will be very happy if this works as I want to create a usefil index as well

You'll need to place files in htdocs to be 'web viewable'.
What are you try trying to achieve and why are you not able to use htdocs?
