Is it me or do game demos seem few and far between these days? They all seem replaced by unfinished betas used to test stress on servers and bugs aplenty.

Luckily for us, Microsoft and Turn 10 have released a demo of Forza 6, their hotly awaited latest game in the long running racing series.

It might not be a long demo but Forza 6 does its job of showing gamers where the focus lays; realistic graphics, tons of cars and new rainy conditions. That's in addition to the now standard tracks, rewind feature, drivatars and multiplayer.

You get the same AI and player data based Drivatars as in Forza 5 and from the demo it looks as if they haven't really improved things here, I still saw a few dive out in front at impossible rates. The drivatars are going to be somewhat erratic, anyway, due to the fact that they're based partly on player data, but there is still some hilarity to be had by bumping the back end of the car in front in just the right way so it spins sideways and takes out another bunch of cars behind it. Yeah, I know it's not a destruction derby but it's well worth doing just for the kicks.

Graphics have been polished since the last outing but there's not too much, short of view distance and detail on track, to be done. Cars seem more realistic on track but don't really handle any better than before (this is a simcade not a simulation, after all) and the wet weather finally gives us aquaplaning, which is both fun and terrifying in equal measures.

It's impossible to tell whether the scope of the new game will vastly improve over 5 (it needs to) in terms of tracks and variety of cars on offer, but it already looks to be yet another solid dose of driving fun based on the smattering of vehicles and circuits they've teased us with here. The full game may or may not live up to the promise of the demo, but I don't care, we've got an early chance to drive the cars and have a bit of fun (even competing with friends) so that gets my seal of approval.
