Hot Date is basically finding the right partner for your sims. There are over 40 new social interactions for you to use to try and hook your sim up on a date. Or you could just send your sim in to the town to do some shopping.
On Holiday, as the name suggests gives you the ability to send your sims on holiday. You get loads more objects to make your sims happy like the volly ball net or ramps to do some snowboarding.
Probably the best thing about these expansion packs is you get to build on the new districts the packs give you, so you can make your own shopping mall in the downtown area, or your very own holiday resort on holiday island.
It may be worth buying both expansion packs.
I have Hot Date and it is brilliant - defuinitley the best of the ones i've got (all but 'on Holiday').
I'll also try and get 'on Holiday' soon aswell!
