i soppose the main issue about selling it would be the price. For example loads of people were wanting a ps3 when it came out but then when they heard the price they thought well maybe its a bit to much for my standards.
And would anybody really be that interested in it? Hey it might be the best console but ive already got a console and im fine with that thank you very much, could be a response from many people.
Could you imagine having backwards compatibilty for the ps3, ps2, 360, wii, gamecube, and the rest of the companys consoles ? Yet do you think it would be possible ?
i was just thinking about it and thought i would share... =D

It'd be great for all developers, 500 million people all using the same console basically equates to guaranteed sales for every game they make.
The only downside is for gamers, with no competition out there developers can pump out all the crud games they want and we've got nowhere to run.
I would be surprised if EA tried to push into the hardware market within the next 5 years or so, they've got far too much to lose if it goes wrong. As far as I can see the market is only just big enough for 3 console manufacturers, anyone else trying to get a bite of the apple is going to be hard-pressed to get developers to port games for them.
That includes gaming via TV set top boxes, I just can't see console gaming being so popular in households that people start downloading games to a dedicated/multi-purpose set top box and playing them on the main TV set. I'm slighly biased here in so far as every single console I've ever owned over the last 25 years has always been set up on the spare TV in a quiet room to enable 'getting away from it all'.
So personally I'd rather not see it come to fruition. Console wars are a good thing in that they're constantly trying to out do each other in terms of latest technology and best games at competitive prices. With just one console there'd be no real incentive to do that anymore.
(Genesis + Nintendo for those who think the Playstation was the first games console...)

Yeah the Playstation was developed by Sony as either an add-on or a standalone console for Nintendo. Nintendo wanted to use cartridges, Sony werent happy because of the limitations and wanted CD's so they took their machine and did it themselves. As mistakes go that was a fairly big one by Nintendo because it introduced the Playstation as a rival. I'm betting Sega werent too happy either as it pretty much killed their console business.
Bar the Wii, this seems quite possible to me, I mean you can (although it's a bit shady and frowned upon) emulate older titles from the early 90s onto your computer or even onto your PSP!

It's possible but essentially you'd need to do what's done on PC's with multuple operating systems and split a fairly big drive into 3. The cost would be big and you couldnt sell it because you'd have 3 of the worlds biggest corporations all suing you at the same time. Someone (rich) geek has probably tried it but who wants to buy all 3 consoles and then take them apart?
