Well, Microsoft has finally addressed our fears on the size of the Xbox, and plans to make a smaller model nicknamed the “XSbox” after it being “eXtra Small”. Although the box does come with some small exclusions: no modem and a reduced Hard Drive allow the console to lose much of it’s mass, while the interior noise damping has almost completely been removed. The fan has also been made smaller, the big green “eye” that Bill Gates uses to spy on people has been lost.

However, there are some additions. The console now comes in two new colours: luminous orange and fluorescent pink- targeted at introducing more girls to gaming. The console will also be supplied with the smaller Japanese Xbox controller as standard as demanded by Western gamers.

There was also an announcement today about a screen to add onto the console just like the PSone screen add-on. However, oddly the screen will only be available in red (?!). When asked about this, a PR for MS said that the screen was designed to be used by people in their cars. With red being the most popular car colour, this will be the only colour available at first (although more are planned).

With the XSbox costing $300 and the screen coming in at $100, MS have said that the console is aimed mainly at the Japanese customers who have been complaining that the Xbox takes up a sizable proportion of their house. With the new console MS hopes that more people will have 2 consoles- one at home and one in the car.

It’ll be interesting to see how well it sells.

I can't believe anyone took this seriously.

The very idea of getting a P3 in a portable device is ridiculous in itself.

You'd think they would have done this sort of research before they released it?

What a performance...
