Following months of anticipation, Bill Gates was in Japan to hand over the very first Xbox.
"Japanese gamers are among the most sophisticated in the world, and Xbox is the future-generation game system that matches their sophistication, fires their imagination and tests their skills," offered Gates as he greeted the first gamers in Japan to buy Xbox.
250,000 consoles were shipping for the Feb. 22 Japanese launch, which was backed by 12 games. Many of the launch titles came from the biggest names in Japanese gaming, including Sega, Konami, Capcom and Tecmo.

First Incubator Game Revealed
BAM! Entertainment is set to release the first game from Microsoft's Incubator Program.
The Incubator Program is available to developers who want to commit resources to creating an Xbox game using the Xbox Development Kit before securing relationships with publishers. The Program is part of Microsoft's commitment to supporting the development community.
The first game to be announced from the program is Chase from the South African-based studio, I-Imagine. Set in Hollywood Chase follows the career of female stunt driver Chase Corrada whose goal is to become the best stunt actor in the entertainment industry. A summer release is currently expected.
