The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger - all films/books written by Tom Clancy, linked by the same character, Jack Ryan. Now there's a fourth coming out/suspended(you'll see), The Sum of All Fears, again with Jack Ryan, about a terrorist plot to blow up the superbowl with a nuclear bomb. Things like this really interest me. I've seen all three films, yet I never realised the link. Cool.
Its actually still in preproduction, however there is another really interesting thing about this film, especially if the film is going to be anything like the book.
In the film Clear And present Danger, where the cars are ambushed amongst those buildings and Ryan and the others run to the building for cover, one of the men with them dies in the doorway.... now this same character is a major part of Sum Of All Fears, and never died in the book version of Clear And Present Danger.
Now what does anyoen think of the chances of Executive orders ever becoming a film.... :( which is a pity as its easily one of the best of Tom Clancy's novels after Rainbow Six - another one of Clancy's novels that MUST have hte film treatment, its brilliant, and anyone who loves this kind of book should get it.

Yeah, those Baldwins get everywhere. Alec Baldwin plays Ryan in Hunt for Red October. He's also in Pearl Harbor, with Ben Affleck, and one of his lines to Affleck is "You remind me of me 15 years ago" - Affleck will be playing the same character that Baldwin played roughly 15 years ago! Cool!
