I jkeep playing super monkey ball, but can't be bothered to get enough points to unlock a minigame in one go, so, I get about 1500, then switch it off. I'vw did this about 6 times as I'm unable to find where to saver it, and think it might save the game automatically. DOes anyone know why this is happening? And how do I save it?

You have to save it manually.
You will find a save option in the options menu.

it saves if you break a mini-game record or complete a game.
