Would it be a good thing? Or would it just as well go un-noticed.
Well if you think about it, Sony contribute nothing at all towards their own system in terms of Games. Bar the few development studios that they have recently bought over, they are nothing.
Nothing whatsover, apart from a monolith within the gaming industry with huge pockets and technology to create a great console.
The way things are heading at the moment, it seems too that Sony 'Don't' like a bit of competition, they don't like being outclassed and beaten at their own game, despite what they would say.
With the release of the Gamecube and the XBOX in America, Sony fumed and became a little edgy regarding the high quality of the products, outstripping the PS2 which they crafted for so long.
From this they claimed that the PS2 successor will become a reality closer than what we would expect, to compete with the Big N and Microsoft.
And if rumours are to go by they will make a major announcement regarding the release details of the Successor by the end of the year.
As for Sony resigning from the hardware market, it is highly possible, although it may not be in the near future, it would more than likely be a good while yet.
Nintendo Gamecube as the situation is now, will see many of the PS2 titles appearing on the console but in better form coupled with the Nintendo greats, people will soon start to catch on, where the best games will be found on.
Well, its only an opinion, so dont get hung up on it.
But if you think about it, it is possible, considering Sony's reliances.
