It’s very hard to write and say
Exactly how you really feel
It’s so tempting to use big words
And phrases that may appeal
To open your heart and hear it’s voice
To close your eyes and speak the truth
These thoughts inside, are they really yours?
Oh so easy to remain aloof
But the pain inside is all too real
Like nothing I have ever felt
No gun or knife could cause this hurt
No cut or burn or blows were dealt
For this feeling is in my heart
This hurt inside is not a game
And I will burn my hands again
Just so I don’t feel the pain
But in the end you cannot hide
From the pain you cause yourself
No-one can ever hurt my pride
As much as I can hurt myself
These things in life are real and here
And one day we will learn to see
That beyond these looming walls we fear
There are things we cannot flee
Forgive me for being so pathetic
And forgive me for these words I write
I can’t let myself be apathetic
But I can’t tell that’s wrong or right
Please do not be afraid of pain
Please do not ever fear your heart
Please do not be afraid to hurt me
Even together, or even apart
Every bird that flies will die
Every heart that beats will fade
Every voice that sings will cease
No matter where it’s sung or made
There is nothing we can ever do
To turn away the death we face
Every song will be forgotten
Every tear will leave no trace
Every feeling that you feel
Every thought you ever make
Every smile you ever seal
Every heart you ever break
Every puddle that you’ve splashed
Every time you’ve ever sung
Every wall you’ve ever smashed
Every swing you’ve ever swung
Every hand you’ve ever held
Every lips you’ve ever kissed
Every line on which you’ve dwelled
Every person that you have missed
All these things will fade away
Every pain will be forgot
Every dog will never stay
Every man will simply rot
There is no time that can be stopped
There is no wall that will not crumble
There is no rain that won’t be dropped
There is no heart you cannot humble
And in the end you realise
There is no time to lose
At the end there is no prize
No emotion you can refuse
So break the walls and run amok
Sing your song and sing it proud
For every door you must unlock
Let every dream speak free and loud
Take your time, don’t watch the clock
For every moment it is ticking
