It's the biggest Cyclone in the area since 1918 and looks like it will do a lot of damage, plus bringing flooding to the area after all the problems with floods in Queensland already.
Much of the North East, along the Great Barrier Reef, will be affected, even inland. But the coasts will obviously be hit the worst, with waves already rising to record 9.5m high.

On a serious note, it seems the damage was not as bad as first feared. Early warnings meant many managed to prepare and move from the expected worst hit areas.
With no reported deaths (2 missing however) the Aussies must be breathing a sigh of relief after the devastation of the floods. Although it has been said before, they will do anything to stop us talking about the cricket...
