When the Nintendo first started with the nes they people thought that Nintendo would get no where, but now they are designing one of the most powerful games console in the world. No one knows what the new console for Nintendo is going to look like, or what it is going to be like. When the N64 was released people completely underestimated it's power, only because it was released after all the other consoles, some people even call it the kiddies console. Nintendo are now producing their best piece of work ever. When the "Nintendo Dolphin" is the released the competition between the Sony and Nintendo will heat up. Even though Sony will have released their new console between 1or 2 years before Nintendo release theirs, Nintendo will still be the main competition for Sony in the future, and due to the information that has been released so far about the "Dolphin" Nintendo are the computer company of the future. Some information has been give to me that Nintendo will be recieving some games of the Final Fantasy series in the future. If this is true Sony have a sealed fate of the future and Nintendo will reign supreme. Whatever people say the Nintendo is NOT DEAD.
The playstation 2 was released in Japan around March, Nintendo haven't even got a design and their console is still the size of 2 PC's, Nintendo haven't even setup a date for it's release.
Yes the Playststion is a good console but their games are mostly sequels, which get a bit repetative don't you think. Come on there is 4 Tomb Raider games and soon to be five "BORING" but with Nintendo most of their games which have sequels only have one.
I agree that Nintendo should become more public instead of keeping everything quiet, and they need more games for the older gamers. Give Nintend a fair chance they have been around the longest, look at sega they'll soon end up in the slump. The Nintendo 64 had the better positive aspects than the playstation but the still kept cartridges and Nintendo did not have the public behind them, where as playstation advertised a lot more than Nintendo.
The good thing with Nintendo now is that they aremaking there new console DVD compatible so they can have FMV's and CGI,s which is an imprtant aspect for certain gamers and plus the "Dolphin" is going to faster than the Playstation 2.

Where do you keep getting this figure of 2 years from? Looking from a UK release its 3 months, 6 if you count the pre-orders.
Don't try and say the nintendo dolphin will reign supreme, we don't know what will happen. What we do know is that the dolphin will be a strong competitor.
Lets not try and speculate on the winner, rather the positive and negative aspects of each system, only time can decide the winner. Whoever thought the first playstation would take off?
