Three days ago, I set up a new Hotmail account. As yet, I have told no-one of its existence, have not used it, and not posted it anywhere.

Already I have two pieces of spam in it - one for a loan, the other for viagra!

How the hell do they manage it?

Maybe they just send it to a list of any random but potential email addresses.

When you sign up it gives you a list of email that you would like to be sent, did you sign up for any of that???
If so then thats why, but cant you just select the address that the mail has come from and block it, thats what i done with a company that kept sending spam...

I'm all but sure that's how. A program that automatically sends to millions of '@hotmal.com's.

Yeah, quite often when you get spam, if you look at the addresses it was sent to, one will be yours, the rest are variations. They send it out to thousands of email addresses, and it just so happens your address was in the list.

Putting 5 or more number in your email address might stop you receiving so much spam.

Bet your surname's Smith or something.
