*I am posting this in here to see what you people think of this, I have already posted this in the Final Fantasy forum but I would like a greater response*

Some people have asked me to write up the best way possible to defeat the Weapons and Ozma, so I have been researching into the ways that are best to defeat these titans over the last few months. This is a rather long post but if you are stuck and donít know how, you should find all of this information relevant. So the following is a list with the methods required to complete these mammoth challenges, I will start with the Final Fantasy 7 Ultimate Sub-bosses, then do the Final Fantasy 8 sub-bosses, and then (in my opinion) the hardest sub boss- Ozma on Final Fantasy 9.

*********************

*FINAL FANTASY 7*

I would recommend the following characters for battle against the weapons because these characters have got the best Level 4 Limit Breaks. I would recommend you use Cloud, Cid and Barrett.

ULTIMATE WEAPON

Locations:
Over Midgar City, Over Fort Condor, Over Northern Cave, Over Nibelheim, Over Gongaga, Over Mideel, Over Sleeping Forest near Cosmo Canyon and Gongaga village, need the Highwind.

Materia recommended for battle:
Enemy skill materia, Powerful Summon materia, At least 1 Restore with the Regen ability learnt.

Recommended Character level:
Around level 60+ (but it is very possible to beat him with lower levels, but if you donít have any Hit Point Plus materia then it may be worth getting your characters up those few levels, alternatively you could go into Cosmo Canyon and purchase some HP Plus and MP plus Materia for 8000 gil each, and there is no limit on the amount you can equip, so it is worth stocking up well)

Moves to watch out for:
Shadow Flare- Causes 9000+ non-elemental damage to one character.

Battle advice:
This sub-boss is by far the easiest one to defeat, yet heís the most annoying to get because he always escapes from battle! If you are having troubles you should train up your characters up a little more before going into combat with the weapon.

This sub-bossís 1st location is over a valley near Junon town, to go into combat with him, drive the Highwind into him and engage combat. The battle will be short and he will flee like he did in Mideel, and he will fly around the world until he chooses another place on the world map to hover over, just drive the Highwind into him to engage combat. This will happen several times, so youíll have to bear with it Iím afraid! He will keep flying around the world, moving to new locations when you defeat him, before he goes to his final destination, he will hover near Cosmo Canyon. It would be a good idea to save your game before you fight him this time round as this will be the toughest battle of the lot against Ultimate Weapon, and if you win this one, it will be your last against it!

Engage combat with him like usual, the battle will begin like the other battles, he will still use the same moves, but they will be more powerful than in previous battles. The best way to defeat him is to use your most powerful summons and your limit breaks. Before Ultimate Weapon dies, it will cast Shadow Flare on one of your characters; unless that character has 9999 HP, it is doubtful that he/she will survive it. Ultimate Weapon will eventually perish, leaving you access to the sleeping forest only accessible with at least a mountain going chocobo. (Green)

*********************

EMERALD WEAPON

Location:
Underwater, you will need the submarine to get to it, as there is no other way of getting to it.

Materia recommended for battle:
Underwater materia, Knights of Round summon materia on at least AP level 2, W-Summon materia, MP Turbo materia, Mime materia, Restore materia, Final Attack linked with Revive which has learnt the Life2 spell or linked with the Phoenix summon materia, Time Materia.

Recommended character level:
80+, but the HP Plus and MP Plus Materia will help your stats improve to almost or right to the full capacity.

Moves to watch out for:
Air Tire Storm: 9999 damage to all characters
Moves by the eyes: These moves have no names, but they can cause around 3000 HP damage or around 300 MP damage. There are 2 eyes that will cause damage to your characterís Health and the other two will cause damage to your magic points.

Battle advice:
Before you fight this giant, make sure that you have the underwater materia, because without it, the battle will have a time limit, to get it, use the morph command on the Ghost Ship. (It looks like an old wooden ship with a large skeleton on top. The skeleton is holding a large oar) The Ghost Ship is positioned in the Underwater Reactor in Junon. You can get to it even if you have already completed the reactor challenge; you can fight it in the large tunnel with the transparent glass. You will have to watch out for the Goannai move, as it will remove one of your characters from the match, and it is even more annoying when it removes the character with the morph command. It will morph into a Guidebook, which you give to an old man in Kalm who lives on the top floor of one of the houses, he will exchange it for the Underwater materia.

It would also be a very good plan to have completed the chocobo side quest, and have collected the Knights of Round materia and the Mime materia, as these will dramatically increase your chances of victory. Drive the submarine into him to engage battle.

Emerald Weapon has 4 small eyes to help him during the fight, these can either take of Hit Points or they can take off Magic Points, but Emerald weapon does not rely on the eyes to cause damage. Emerald Weapon has a manoeuvre called Air Tire Storm, which can hit all characters for 9999 damage; this is where the Final Attack materia will come in handy as 9999 damage to all characters will kill them all. Final Attack gives your characters 1 last move before they die, and if linked to the Revive materia or the Phoenix summon materia then it will revive you.

The best way to win against Emerald is to use Haste and Regen on all characters before using the Knights of Round Summon. If the character that summoned Knights Of Round has the W-Summon materia as well as the Knights of Round Summon materia, then the Knights of Round summon can be used twice but this is also only if Knights of Round summon materia has levelled up to at least AP Level 2. This causes major damage to the Weapon, to increase the damage caused to Weapon with Knights of Round, link the Knights of Round materia with the MP Turbo materia, the higher the level of the MP Turbo materia, the more damage will be caused to Emerald Weapon.

When you have selected to perform the Knights of Round materia, do not do any other move other than Mime. Mime will copy the last move performed by the characters, and it will copy the W-Summon Knights of Round for no cost of MP! Keep repeating this move as many times as possible, as Emerald Weapon has well over a million Hit Points.

After the onslaught of damage inflicted on Emerald Weapon, he will finally drop and you will be successful. You will get an item called an Earth Harp that can be exchanged with the old man in Kalm with whom you exchanged the Guidebook with earlier for underwater materia.

RUBY WEAPON

Location:
Near the Gold Saucer location in the desert, appears when you defeat Ultimate Weapon, need the Highwind or a Golden Chocobo.

Materia recommended for battle:
Knights of Round Summon Materia on at least AP level 2 linked up with MP Turbo, W-Summon materia, Mime materia, Restore materia, Final Attack linked with Life2, Time materia.

Recommended character level:
80+ (but Iíve explained this before that the higher the level, the better the stats!)

Moves to watch out for:
Ruby Ray- Causes 3500 Non-Elemental damage to one character
Whirlsand- Causes one character to be knocked out of the match so if you had 3 characters alive and fighting you would only have 2, but you canít bring the 3rd person back
Big Swing- Causes approximately 5000 Physical damage to all characters

Battle advice:
This may sound very weird but the best way to go into battle but the best way to go into this match is with 2 of your team-mates dead.... Are you shocked? I found this out by accident, but honestly it does work! As if you go into the match with 2 or 3 alive in your team then ruby has a move that will take one of the characters out of the fight, and you donít need that against the weapon! When there is only 1 member in your squad (thatës either alive or thereës 1 member in your squad left), then Ruby will bring itís tentacles into play, which means it canít do the Whirlsand move. The Whirlsand move removes one character from the match forever, and there is nothing that can bring them back into the game.

After a certain amount of time, Ruby Weaponís tentacleís pop up, you can do 1 of two things. You can do Life2 on the dead party members to bring them back to life and into the battle or you can fight like you did against Emerald Weapon except with only one character. The only difference is, you do not want to waste your attacks on Ruby Weaponís tentacles as when you defeat Ruby Weapon, and the tentacles will perish along with it. When Ruby has been vanquished, you will get the Desert Rose, which can be exchanged for another Golden Chocobo with the person you exchanged the Guidebook and Earth Harp with.

Note for experts:
If you are good enough to take on these Weapons and win comfortably, it is worth not using your ultimate weapons as your materia will not level up, so I would recommend that you use one of the weapons that can increase you materiaís AP levels. Using weapons that can triple your Materiaís AP Level will make your materia level up quicker. But the best challenge has to be trying to beat these weapons using the original weapons and equipment your character started out with i.e. Cloudís Buster Sword and Bronze Armlet

*FINAL FANTASY 8*

Characters:
For battling against these weapons I would use any of the characters except for Selphie, as her limit break is the poorest of the 6 characters. I would use Squall, Irvine and Zell for battle, as their limits seem to be the most effective against the weapons yet Quistis is very useful in levelling up the characters. Itís your choice for this game but Iíd recommend Squall, Irvine and Zell.

ULTIMATE WEAPON

Location
Deep Sea Research Centre, Battleship Island, Bottom Left Hand Corner of the World Map.

Recommended character level:
60+ (but donít forget- the higher the level, the better the stats, the less magic that needs stocking to get the ultimate stats!)

Magic recommended for battle:
Meltdown, Aura, Triple, High Damage magic like Meteor, Flare or Ultima

Moves to watch out for:
Light Pillar: 9999 non-elemental damage on one character
Gravija: All characters lose 3/4ís of their energy

Battle Advice:
Yes Ultimate Weapon is back and is much more lethal than itís counterpart from Final Fantasy 7, and it is carrying Cloudís Ultima Weapon. And Square have not made getting to Ultima Weapon an easy task. There are many fights around here against enemies that are worth being called sub-bosses and the legendary G.F Bahamut to fight!

If you get through the sub-bosses and Bahamut, you will then go face to face with Ultimate Weapon and Ultimate Weapon is no easy-going monster! When you go into battle with it, he has moves that can kill the whole of your team, moves like Level 5 death, and itís own unique move called Light Pillar. This will instantly kill one of your crew. If you are fighting him on Disc 3, you will want to draw the G.F. Eden, as it is one of the only 2 moves in the game that can break the 5-digit damage barrier in a single move! But if you are fighting him on disc 4, then it might be worth drawing it off Tiamat (Tiamat is one of the bosses in Ultimeciaís castle.)

I would make use of the Meltdown magic to make his Vitality 0, thus making him defenceless to your attacks and very open for a beating! Use your attacks, summons such as Bahamut for the damage and Doomtrain for the status changing effects, and high damage magic such as Meteor to take off a considerable amount of damage. If you have the Lionheart weapon for Squall, then it might be worth using an Aura on him as he might unleash his Lionheart finishing move, it might also be worth using an Aura on Irvine as he has deadly shot limit breaks to pummel the Weapon with. Ultimate Weapon has not got that much HP *estimated around 150000 to 250000, itís not certain, but itís somewhere in that region* Eventually, he will be crushed and you will be victorious, and you can claim your prize which is 100 Ultima Stones and the Eden Card.

*********************

OMEGA WEAPON

Location:
The chapel in Ultimeciaís Castle, you need to use both teams to get to it. Youíre non combat team must pull the rope in a room near to the room with the paintings in, then swap teams to your combat team which must be standing in the portal in front of the church. You must take the combat team into the church and walk up to Omega Weapon to fight it.

Recommended character levels:
80+, but itís worth getting those last 20 levels as it does make a significant difference to some stats.

Magic recommended for battle:
Aura, Triple, Meltdown.

Before you battle:
These are a few things that (In my opinion) when fighting Omega Weapon, makes the battle so much easier.

1. Learn the ëCard Modí ability on the Quezacotl G.F as it will become quite probably one of the most important abilities learnt in the game.

2. Complete the Card Club in Balamb Garden as Quistis holds the precious Gilgamesh card, which can be modified into 10 Holy Wars. These are exactly like Heroís which make your character invincible for a short time, the difference being that when using a Holy War, itís effects go on all members of the team, itís like a Hero-All.

3. Defeat Bahamut, he is on the Deep Sea Research Centre, when you defeat him, you acquire the Bahamut card, which when modified, turns into 100 Megalixirs.

4. When fighting Seifer (No, not me, the Seifer in the game!) at the end of disc 3, have all characters have the draw ability as Seifer holds the precious Aura magic, this magic engages the selected characters Limit Breaks. Keep drawing as much as possible of Seifer as the more Aura's you have, the easier it is for when youíre fighting.

5. Make sure that you have defeated all off the bosses that posses all of your abilities in Ultimeciaís castle as this means that you can use any abilities you please against Omega Weapon.

6. Make sure that every character in your squad has 100 Death magic equipped to the Status Defence stat, as Omega always starts off with the Level 5 Death Move and if you have levelled your characters up to level 100, that move will be fatal.

7. Purchase 100 Armour Piercing (AP) Ammo from the item shop ability, if you are reading this on disc 4 then the only item shop available is from the Joker in the Ragnorok, or you could learn the Item Shop ability from the Doomtrain G.F.

8. It would be best if each character had got the magic ability and the Item ability as two of the 4 abilities; this will come apparent during the fight.

9. Buy the Lionheart weapon for Squall, this will also unlock the Lionheart Finishing Move, as this is the most powerful move in the game. (If only it appeared more!)

Getting to Omega Weapon:
(I was amazed at the amount of people who have asked me to add this part in) To get to Omega Weapon, you will need to use both teams to get to it. You will need to have the first team standing outside the portal in front of the church and the other team that will not be fighting going into another room with a bell pull, it is the room before the room with the paintings in. When you have both teams in their places, you will want the non-battle team to pull the bell pull, and a bell will begin to ring. You walk to the nearby portal in the same room and swap teams. You take the battle team into the church, and go up to Omega Weapon to go into combat with it.

Moves to watch out for:
Terra Break: 12000+ non-elemental damage to all characters
Medigo Flame- 9998 non-elemental damage to all characters
Gravija- All characters lose 3/4ís of HP
Level 5 Death: Causes Death to all characters whose level is a multiple of 5, it uses this move first before any other move can be cast.

Battle advice:
Now if you have completed all of the things above, this fight will be over in no time at all. Omega Weapon starts of by doing the Level 5 Death move, but if you have done what was mentioned earlier then you will be unharmed. Have the first member of the squad cast Meltdown, this will make Omegaís vitality 0 which will also cause him to have a low defence so more damage can be caused, you only need to cast one as one will do. You will then need to have the second member of the squad cast Triple on the first party member. Now would be an idea to cure your squad, have the third party member use a megalixir. Have the first party member cast Triple-Aura, use one on each member so all characters can use their limit breaks. Then have the second party member cast a Holy War; this will make all characters invincible.

Now you are ready to pummel the weapon to oblivion, use the characters Limit Breaks, it would be best to use Irvineís Pulse Ammo if you have any, if would be best to use the AP ammo as this is the next best ammo, and you can buy this. The holy war will not last forever but it might last longer than the Auraís, so when they run out, cast the same three spells as before- a megalixir, aura and holy war and continue to pound the weapon with the devastating limit breaks. Omega weapon has a stack of health, but if you follow this pattern, it will go ever so quickly. Omega will soon be deceased, you will be triumphant and you will acquire the Proof of Omega.

*FINAL FANTASY 9*

Recommended characters for battle: Zidane, Steiner, Quina and Dagger.

Ozma

Location:
At the eidolon grave at the back of the Chocoboís air garden. You will need a Golden Chocobo to get to it.

Recommended character level:
80+, but the stats are improved on the higher levels

Recommended equipment and ability set-up for battle:

Zidane:
Weapon- Ultima Weapon
Head Protection- Thief Hat
Arm Protection- Power Wrist
Body Protection- Dark Gear
Add-on- Ribbon

Abilities- Auto-Haste, Auto-Regen, Auto-Life, HP+20%, Gamble Defence, High Tide, Distract, Antibody, Clear Headed, Accuracy +

Steiner:
Weapon- Excalibur (if you can get Excalibur 2, use that as itís meant to be much better, but you will miss all of the best parts out in the game, it depends on if you are willing to take the gamble)
Head Protection- Grand Helm
Arm Protection- Defence Gloves
Body Protection- Maximillian (But if you want to, you can get the Tin Armour from Hades, this is much better but you use up the hammer and you may want to use t
Add-on- Ribbon

Abilities- Auto-Haste, Auto-Regen, Auto-Life, HP+20%, Level up, High Tide, Chemist, Antibody, Clear Headed

Quina:
Weapon: Gastro Fork
Head Protection: Golden Hairpin
Arm Protection- Dragon Wrist
Body Protection- Demonís Vest
Add-on- Ribbon

Abilities: Auto-Haste, Auto-Regen, Auto-Life, Gamble Defence, High Tide, Level Up, Antibody, Clear Headed,

Dagger:
Weapon- Whale Whisker
Head Protection- Golden Skullcap
Arm Protection- Dragon Wrist
Body Protection- Robe of Lords
Add-on- Rosetta Ring
Abilities: Auto-Haste, Auto-Regen, Auto-Life, MP+20%, Reflect-Null, Antibody, Clear Headed

Moves to watch out for:
Curse: Medium damage with a lot of Status changing ailments
Level 5 Death: Death to characters whose levels are multiples of 5
Flare Star: 3000 non-elemental damage to all characters
Meteor: Heavy damage to all characters

Battle Advice:
Going into battle without any status protection is suicidal, as Ozma has a move called Curse, this causes medium damage and causes most status effects, so placing as many status defences on as possible would be extremely advisable.

The way to beat Ozma is to have Quina as the main attacking character. If you have caught a load of Frogs in the Qu Marshes, and you have learnt the Blue Magic move Frog Drop, and you are at a high enough level, then you can cause the only 5 digit damage in the game. To work out how much damage Frog Drop will do then there is a simple equation to help you:
Level of character X Number of Frogs caught in the Marshes.

You will want Steiner as the 2nd attacking character; you will want to use his Swd Atk Abilities. The best attacks to use are ClimHazzard and Stock. When Ozma uses Curse, the party will occasionally have mini cast upon them.(because mini is one of the status ailments used by Ozma in Curse), this is where Zidane will become very useful.

You will want to use Zidane as a ëOdd jobí character. You will want Zidane to do all of the odd jobs; you will want him as the main item user, especially after Ozma uses Curse. One of Curseís status changing effects is Mini, which can not be defended against. You will want Zidane to at least return Steiner to maximum size. If Steiner stayed at a small size, his attacks will decrease dramatically. You will want Zidane to be the character who also brings back characters from the dead, just make sure you go into battle with plenty of Phoenix Downs or Phoenix Pinions and Life Magic. If Zidane dies, you may want Steiner to take his place as he uses up more magic for his attacks than Quina does for Frog Drop.

This means that Dagger will be doing the restoring. Use her Cure spells to your best advantage, you will need to time them right because all characters should have Auto-Regen equipped as one of their abilities. You may want to use Daggerís cure spells to give you a few seconds to calm down and think ahead, this will help you to get your thoughts focused on what you want to do and what you need to do.

If you can keep doing his pattern of movement for a while then you will beat Ozma, it will take a while but if you follow those methods, it will not take an eternity.

Well, I hope all of that information will be relevant for those who needed assistance. I found it useful writing it down and reading it through myself! Thanks for those who have read through this fully, and thanks to those who made sense out of it. This has taken me a long time to type up and I hope that it has been worth it.
