Does anyone have any idea what kind of minimum spec will be needed to play Half-Life 2?

Really, it's a bit pointless speculating until the game comes out. Anyone who plays PC games knows that often the minimum spec gives a barely playable game sometimes, Valve are good but there is only so much hardware can do. What Valve define as playable and what gamers define as playable may well be very different.

Yikes, runnig the source engine on the system specs of the first game!!! I think that's wishful thinking to be honest, but the game is supposedly kinder to lower spec machines than other games on the market. How true that is I don't know.

That's great stuff, if omly all games were like that. The game won't look that good on a pentium 3 but at least you get to play it.

"System specifications are said to be very reasonable. A Pentium 3 700 with 128MB of RAM and a 16MB graphics card is said to run Half-Life 2 pretty well. The original Half-Life wasn't too big on system specs either. I remember playing that sucker on my old laptop that had 64mb ram and some no-name graphics card built in."

Half Life ran on my P2 233 with 16mb 3dfx gard and 64mb ram, I doubt that Half Life 2 will run on that spec...
