Can anybody help? I've done the Hall of Seasons and obtained all the crystals and now I need to activate the furnace, I have been down into the Basement of Traps but the door on the inner wall isn't open and I'm not sure where to go from here.

JIVE - Thank you, i'll give it a try. Can't believe it doesn't say that in the official walkthrough.
As you first walk into the Hall of Seasons area, you walk down a corridor, I didn't really remember this until I had 3 crystals and wondered what to do with them.
Anway, if you run round the outside you'll come across the corridor but you can't exit it. In the corridor are 4 paintings, 2 on each side, you put the crystals in the wall under the paintings and this unlocks the door in the basement.
Once done, go down to the basement and the door is on the inside of the circular track, took me a while to find it but it is there.

JIVE - Yes I do have all four crystals, I have been following the walkthrough and it doesn't tell you to put them anywhere until you can go through the door towards the furnace which is locked, is there somewhere else then that I am meant to put them?

Are you sure you've got all FOUR crystal and put them in the picture holders on the wall in the corridor you first enter Hall of Seasons?
If you haven't got all four then the door wont open.
Don't forget that there are two doors down in the basement.
