I gave up on mine shortly after I had to resort to turning the console upside down before it would play anything.
Mine laways worked oK. I just sold it when I got a PS2

My original had the same problem. Something to do with the lense dropping down I presume.

I must have just been lucky. My Ps1 never went wrong!!! most poeple I know theirs broke.
Indeed. It hasn;t escaped my attention, either, that many PS2 owners have suffered the same malady.
now that DID happen to me. My PS2 wouldnt play blue disk at all, and no disk at all on horizotnal position. I ended up getting a new one!
Still got it, and still play it every week for Guitar Freaks.
BTW, Iit's the same machine I got in 1996 and it's still working perfectly. That's nearly 9 years!!
I make it a habit of not selling my games or consoles. I've still got my PS1 and I've let my sister keep it in her room.
