Below is my opinion of the funnist 3 films that I have seen over the past 2-3 years.

1) Scary Movie

This is a very funny movie. Taking Scream as its main influence and target, this movie takes a cast of unknown 'teenage' actors and has them killed off in a variety of hilarious ways by the man in Munch's Scream mask. The plot is of course, very loose. The group accidentally killed a man last summer and believe that it is him seeking revenge as he kills them one by one. They try to stay alive - and that's about it. The movie is packed with spoofs of other movies(Scream, The Sixth Sense, The Exorcist etc) and some hilarious sexual jokes. Some of the best moments include the scene with the gym teacher("We all have little secrets") and where one member of the group has a sexually draining experience with his girlfriend after a long abstinence from sex.

The acting here is abysmal - but they would probably argue that that is part of the spoof so I guess they get away with that one. The special effects are good, but just because this is a comedy do not expect them not to be gory. In one scene for example, one of the group members is stabbed, hacked and beheaded right before your naked, steaming eyes and ears. She complains the whole time about how unoriginal his methods are(even when beheaded) but this does little to underemphasise the horror factor. There are also some very graphic sexual jokes here which some may find quite offensive, both of these aspects making it a deserved R-rating.

This movie is in all honestly, probably aimed at the under 25s market with its coarse sexual humour but I would still recommend it to anyone who is not too prudish. Whilst there are no doubt many ethical arguments as to whether a movie should be made which is effectively a comedy about a serial killer which mixes sex, violence, horror and comedy and the damaging effects this may have, there is an arguably better argument which says shut up and be entertained! And entertained you will be. Whilst there are some very silly moments (the first couple of minutes for example) these are far outweighed by some excellent visual gags which aim straight for the most basic levels of humanity - and score a direct hit!

2) Road Trip

This film is simply brilliant. I couldn't stop laughing at some of the acting and this is a definite top 3 film of mine.

Anyway, the story begins and evolves around a uni student showing around a group of prospective new students around his university, and his ushering soon turns into a story (the film) that depicts him as both the narrator and the extra comedy in between.

The story in question is that of a couple who have been 'hot' since they were kids, eventually have to cling onto a long-distance relationship as they go on to further education in different universities. And with the pestering of his friends, the boy in the relationship eventually gives into that temptation and lands a girl for a one-night stand as the result of a favoured girl bidding auction at uni. She however doesn't think it's a one-off.

To add an extra bit of kinkiness the girl even persuades him to catch their 'fun' on film for documented prosperity (you should see his friends when they learn that he's made a film with that girl), but unfortunately this little document manages to find it's way into the wrong hands, as this guy usually sends video messages to his girlfriend, and entrusts his friends to post his latest copy which gets mixed up with the porn flick, argh!

Obviously in a panic, the guy assembles his friends and manages to convince a wire-framed nerd to borrow his Dad's car, and off they go to intercept the package in the most hilarious way, before the girlfriend sees it. And it'd be particularly even more hurtful since one of the girl's grandparents had just died!

The narrator of the film is the one who stays behind to keep a lookout or something? And his antics are just as important and as hilarious as the main story line. Watch how he tantalises a snake to eat a mouse - freaky!
Anyway, the main boys journey to get the tape couldn't be more funnier, but I recommend that you see this film so I won't spoil it if you plan to see the film. But watch the transformation of the skinny nerd into a streetwise and confident lover machine, one of the guys get off on prostate stimulation, and get the excrement culled out of them in a black fraternity. It's just fun all the way, from start to finish - weaving inbetween main plot and fillers.
The ending of the film is happy naturally, but a little bit anticlimatic if you're wanting to quench some bloodthirst, but because of that it isn't an obvious ending, so it's still good.

Anyway, the moral? Lads, don't send sex tapes with other women to your ladies (and ladies vice versa), or atleast don't trust your friends with handling/posting your mail! A must see, go out and see it now!

3) American Pie

This is a film that I also was basically laughing the whole way through. These sort of films are ones I find very funny and this one was no different.

In this rites of passage movie starring Jason Biggs, Mena Suvari (American Beauty fame), Chris Klein and Thomas Ian Nicholas and directed by Paul Weltz; four American high school seniors decide that they must not remain virgins beyond the prom. From this point it is girls beware because these hormone filed young adults have but one thing on their mind. Sex! Yes this film is the Porky’s for the current teenage generation, what are girls actually like, can you talk to them or is their purpose on the planet just the one thing? (Well as somebody who has been through the adolescence girl thing, I can assure you girls that we males do eventually realise that it is possible to talk to the fairer sex, but only after our hormones have calmed down).

The plot is simple, four high school boys wanting to lose their cherry and each type of young man is represented. There is the sporting boy, with bulging muscles and little sensitivity (until a college girl tells him that girls want to be listened to); the sensitive one with the steady girlfriend; the clutzy one, who is cute but tongue tied and finds it impossible to talk to girls; and the one who thinks he is sophisticated, but is in fact a bit of a joke. This mixture is great and I am sure all men will be able to recognise the agonies these four teenagers go through. Where am I going? What is it all about? What are girls?

So our four sex seeking boys embark on some hilarious adventures, internet strip shows, secret sex manuals, attempted interaction with girls and some high class pranks. This movie whether you are old or young will have you in stitches at some parts and is very well acted throughout. Perhaps the star of the show is Jim’s (the clutzy one) dad, who tries his hardest to educate his son and understand his troubles, even buying him dirty mags. These father and son scenes are hilarious.

What makes this film excellent, is the message portrayed about sex, in the end we find out that losing your Cherry is not the be all and end all and if you actually talk to girls and you find out you may quite like them on more than a sexual level. In fact Chris (the athletic one) discovers that he does have a sensitive side and falls in love ahhh!

So, that is the plot, what about the rest. Well as I said at the end the film whilst being hilarious (in a juvenile sense) portrays a sensible message and will strike a chord with all men and some women about those awful (but fun years) of discovery. Despite having a cast of almost unknowns the acting of this movie is great, OK there are no Oscar performance as the roles are not that stretching, but what each actor had to do is done well. The movie has a very funny script that is well executed and although you laugh you feel these peoples pain.

What are you views on this?

This is Spinal Tap:

Particularly funny for anyone in a band, but still one of the most furiously amusing films ever.
Improvised by 3 Americans with faultless UK accents, with cameos left right and center, and more quotable dialogue than you can shake a stick at.
"This one goes to 11"
"It's like...none more black"
"You can't dust for vomit"

Withnail & I:

The most ascerbic, nasty and downright melencholy comedies.
British, both in production and style.
Richard E Grant owns this movie.
Again, dialogue you can quote for ever.

Airplane:

I don't even need to explain this one
